The Department of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that two Irish people have been arrested in Britain and Spain.

A spokesman for the Department said the Irish embassies in London and Madrid had reported that at least two Irish people had been arrested.

Reports indicated that more than 800kg of cocaine were seized when two yachts moored off Ibiza and the Costa Blanca were stormed by armed officers yesterday morning.

The drugs were found below the decks of the yachts. Police in Liverpool, meanwhile, raided four homes as part of the same investigation. Nine people are currently in custody.
