Three people have been arrested for questioning in connection with the strangulation murder of a mother of two young children in Longford.
The body of Sharon Coughlan (38) was found in the bathroom of a Longford home last Saturday night, just a few doors away from where she lived with her two children, aged 10 and five, and her partner.
Yesterday, two men, aged 19 and 28, and a 29-year-old woman were arrested in the Longford area. They were being questioned last night at Longford Garda station.
Ms Coughlan's body was found inside the bathroom of a vacant house on Great Water Street. The owner of the house found her body in the bathroom, which had been locked from the outside, when he called to prepare the house for new tenants.
Ms Coughlan was well-known in Longford as she had worked as a barmaid at the Market Bar on Ballymahon Street for more than 20 years.
After Ms Coughlan's death, Longford mayor Peggy Nolan described her as "the perfect mother" and said the town was "shocked".
