Two men have been killed in separate road bringing the number of people killed on Irish roads this year to 216. This is twenty more than on the same day in 2003.
James Fanning (24) with an address at Beechlawns, Mullingar, Co Westmeath died on the Mullingar to Kilbeggan Road when the car he was driving crashed at 6.30 p.m. A male front seat passenger was injured and is being treated at Tullamore Hospital. His injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
Dublin gardai are investigating a collision which left one man dead at 12.50 a.m. on the Enniskerry Rd. A woman passenger has been taken to hospital.
Two women pedestrians were seriously injured in Dublin last night in a hit-and-run incident at the junction of Blackglen Road and Woodside Road, in Stepaside. One of the women is in a critical condition.
