Two men have been killed and another two seriously injured in two crashes in Co Tipperary and Co Kildare.
One man (28) was killed and another seriously injured in a multiple-vehicle collision outside Roscrea at around 8am today.
It is understood the collision involved three trucks and a number of parked cars on the Roscrea-to-Templemore road (N62) at Ashmere, which is expected to stay closed for most of the day.
The two other truck drivers were removed from the scene to Midwest General Hospital, Nenagh. Their injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
A garda spokesman said they would like to talk to the driver of an articulated truck with a side curtains (possibly red) which passed the location at about the time of the crash. He said the truck curtain had letters on the side, possibly containing the letters FS.
Gardai said they would also like to speak with the driver of a white van stopped at the scene just after the crash, the driver put on his hazard warning lights and shortly afterwards drove off in the direction of Roscrea.
