At least two people were killed and 40 were injured after a commuter train collided with a truck at a crossing in southern Sweden today.

The first carriage of the train flipped over after it hit the truck. The other two cars derailed.

It was  unclear why the train and the truck collided near Kristianstad, a town on Sweden's south-eastern coast, officials said, adding the railway crossing had gates.

"We know there are at least two dead," one rescue worker said. "But there could be more. There's a risk people are still trapped under the car."
