Two questioned about Limerick murders

Two men have been arrested in Limerick city today in connection with separate murder investigations in the city.

Two men have been arrested in Limerick city today in connection with separate murder investigations in the city.

A 17-year-old youth was arrested at 10 a.m. as part of the ongoing investigation into the fatal stabbing of Mr Eric Leamy (19), St Munchin's Street. He died from a single stab wound during a row at Lee Estate, Island Road, Limerick, on August 28th.

Gardaí later arrested a man in his 30s in connection with the murder of Mr Brian Hanley (20) from Beechcourt House, Meelick, Co Clare. Mr Hanley died from a single stab wound to the chest early on August 26th. The attack took place during a row which broke out in a pub and ended in tragedy at Cregan Avenue, Killeely, Limerick.

Both men are being detained at Henry Street Garda Station under Section Four of the Criminal Justice Act.
