A man and woman have been remanded in custody with consent to bail after they were charged in connection with a €216,000 drugs seizure by drugs squad detectives in Cork city on Monday afternoon.

Ian Hanlon (40) from Avondale, Passage West, Co Cork and Jayne Crowley (31) from Maulbawn, Passage West, Co Cork were both charged with possession and possession for sale or supply of 18 kilos of cannabis grass at the South Ring Road in Cork on Nov 8th.

Insp Mary King said that gardai were consenting to bail once substantial sureties were obtained and certain conditions agreed including that they sign on three times a week, surrender their passports and observe a curfew.

Judge Con O'Leary remanded both Mr Hanlon and Ms Crowley on bail on their own sureties of 10,000 euro each, ordered them to sign on three times a week at Togher and Blackrock Garda Stations and surrender their passports.

He also ordered them to abide by a 10pm to 7am curfew at their homes and he remanded them both to appear again at Cork District Court on 8 December for the DPP's directions on the matter.
