TWO MEN, one in his late teens, were shot dead in a gun attack in Co Kildare last night.
Two other men were injured in the shooting which occurred at a house in the Rochford Avenue estate, Kilcock shortly before 10.30pm. Several shots were fired in the incident.
One of the victims is in his late teens and the other man is in his early 30s.
The Irish Times understands that one of the dead men was a close associate of a well-known drug dealer from Dublin who has been living in Co Kildare in recent years.
Gardaí are trying to establish if the gang leader’s connection to the victim is linked to the shooting.
One of the deceased men was Irish. The group of four men consisted of two Irish men and two foreign nationals.
Both of the fatally injured men were last night taken to James Connolly Memorial Hospital in Blanchardstown, Dublin where they were pronounced dead.
The two injured men were taken to the Mater Hospital, Dublin and The Adelaide and Meath Hospital, Tallaght in Dublin.
Both are believed to have only suffered superficial wounds which are not life-threatening.
The area where the shooting occurred was sealed off last night. It is due to undergo examination by the Garda technical bureau later today.
Gardaí have informed the State pathologist’s office of the deaths. Gardaí last night began a full scale murder investigation.
No arrests have been made at this stage and inquiries were ongoing.
