Gardaí in Dublin are continuing to question two men in connection with their investigation into the murder of a man in Dublin last week.
Stephen Byrne (32), was shot dead on Tuesday afternoon at the junction of St Laurence Place East and Sheriff Street in the north inner-city.
A 25-year-old man was arrested on Friday and another man, aged 20, was arrested yesterday afternoon.
Both are being detained at Store Street Garda station under the provisions of section 30 of the Offences Against The State Act 1939.
Byrne (32), a convicted criminal, lived at Mariner’s Port, just yards from where he was killed. He received a phone call while in his house and went out to meet somebody on the street. As he was talking to a group of people, a gunman approached on a mountain bike, shooting Byrne in the head and chest.
Those talking to Byrne fled as the gunman moved in. The killer, who used a handgun, escaped on his bike.
A16-year-old boy was arrested on Thursday in connection with the inquiry. A 15-year-old boy and a 20-year-old man questioned earlier in the week were released without charge.
