Two truck drivers were injured after their vehicles collided in Co Carlow this morning.

Two truck drivers were injured after their vehicles collided in Co Carlow this morning.

The collision happened on Carlow Road between Ballon and Bunclody at about 7 a.m. The two men were taken to St Luke’s Hospital in Kilkenny. One man is believed to in a serious condition.

Yesterday the number of people killed on roads in the State rose to 238 when a 24-year-old woman died when her car crashed on the Westport-Louisburgh road in Co Mayo.

Earlier Mr Ben Hennessy (34), Tullow Road, Carlow, and Mr P.J. Culleton (27), Little Barrack Street, Carlow, died following a collision with another car at Myra, three miles on the Tullamore side of Mountmellick, at 7.55 a.m.
