Two more US airlines have announced that they intend to end stopovers at Shannon while transporting US military personnel to the Gulf.
North American Airlines and Miami Airlines both confirmed to TG4 tonight that they have stopped using Shannon Airport because of security concerns.
Earlier this month five protesters from the Catholic Workers' Movement overpowered a garda at the old SRS hangar where a US navy cargo aircraft had been grounded since it was attacked by another protester.
After the recent attacks the Minister for Transport, Mr Brennan, said security would be stepped up and the army was brought in.
While the US government said it was happy to continue using Shannon as a stopover and refuelling facility after those attacks, another airline being used by the US military to transport troops to the Gulf decided to reroute 17 of its flights through Frankfurt instead because of security fears.
