US sports tycoon Malcolm Glazer has said he has no current plans to bid for Manchester United as the English soccer club beat forecasts with a 32 per cent rise in first-half profit.
"At the request of Manchester United that it should clarify its position, the Glazer Family Partnership confirms today that it has no current intention to make an offer for Manchester United," the owner of American football team the Tampa Bay Buccaneers said in a statement.
However, he added that he may increase or decrease his 16.69 per cent holding in the future.
Manchester United, subject to persistent bid speculation as its two biggest shareholders have increased their stakes, made a profit before tax of £26.8 million sterling (€40.02 million) in the six months to January 31st, beating analysts' forecasts of about £22 million.
