U2 fever is infecting the country at the moment - first it was the single Sweetest Thing, next came the rather groovy video, and on Monday the album, The Best of 1980-90 goes on sale. Well, officially it's Monday but many record stores including Tower Records and Virgin are opening their doors at midnight to tend to those desperate fans who just can't wait till morning.
Admittedly it's not quite the same buzz as an album of entirely new tracks - but expect that madness soon, as the boys are all in town at the moment recording a new album. Still, the single Sweetest Thing is new to almost everybody except U2 fact fans, who will tell you that it was released as a B-side to the single of Where the Streets Have No Name six years ago, while the video is new to everybody full stop.
For those who haven't seen it yet, it features Bono and the lads cruising along Fitzwilliam Square with guest appearances by boxer Steve Collins, Boyzone, the Artane Boys Band, of which Larry Mullen used to be a member, several elephants, and some Riverdancers.
