The Ugandan army has resumed operations against Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) rebels in northern Uganda.
Military spokesman Major Felix Kulayigye said today: "Following the expiration of the cessation of hostilities requiring the rebels to assemble, we have resumed operations against LRA remnants in northern Uganda".
The LRA said on Saturday they had resumed peace talks with the government aimed at ending a two-decade insurgency.
The rebels had walked out from negotiations in south Sudan, accusing the Ugandan army of surrounding their fighters at an assembly point agreed under the truce signed last month.
The LRA's top commanders, including leader Joseph Kony and Otti, are wanted for war crimes by the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague. But Otti has said they will not come out of the bush under a peace deal unless the ICC indictments are dropped.
