The UN's World Food Programme (WFB) has halted food convoys into Afghanistan because of the military strikes against the ruling Taliban.
"We have suspended the operation," WFP spokeswoman Ms Christiane Berthiaume said. "Everything has been put on hold because of what happened overnight". She said she did not know when operations would resume.
The WFP, which was forced to withdraw its international staff from Afghanistan following the attacks, began moving some 500 tonnes of food a day into Afghanistan nine days ago from neighbouring countries.
