Geneva - The number of people without full-time jobs will reach a record one billion by the end of the year, according to an International Labour Office report released in Geneva today. The turmoil in Asia will also cause the number of unemployed people around the globe to rise by 10 million to 150 million, the 258-page study said.
A further 750 million to 900 million people - 25 to 30 per cent of the world's workers - lack full-time jobs or earn less than the minimum needed to live, a situation the ILO calls "underemployment".
