London - The left-winger, Mr Ken Livingstone, last night received a big boost to his hopes of becoming the official Labour candidate for London mayor when a major trade union voted to lend him its support.
A secret ballot of Transport and General Workers' Union members in London produced an 85.8 per cent vote in favour of the Brent East MP. Ms Glenda Jackson came a distant second with 7.3 per cent of the vote.
