Recommendations from the Labour Court on how best to resolve the dispute affecting cash deliveries to ATMs will not be available until Thursday - the day strike action is due to begin.
The union representing security van crews at Brinks Allied said this evening the situation would be kept "under review" but did not to rule out going ahead with the action.
SIPTU security services branch secretary Mr Kevin McMahon said he would prefer the recommendation were issued ahead of strike notice expiring on Thursday morning as this would allow the union to ballot members.
Talks at the Labour Relations Commission yesterday failed to produce agreement but both sides agreed on the root of the problem.
The dispute has affected deliveries of cash to ATMs in Dublin and the east coast though the Irish Payment Services Organisation said yesterday that between 90 and 93 per cent of ATMs in the areas affected were functioning.
The dispute centres on the introduction of new cash delivery vans and operating procedures that workers claim would leave them more vulnerable to attack during armed robberies.
Workers say management introduced the new measures without a health and safety review and contrary to agreed consultation procedures at the company.
