Representatives of the three main taxi drivers' unions are meeting this afternoon to discuss their dispute with Taxi Regulator Ger Deering.
Members of the three unions - the National Taxi Drivers' Union, Siptu and the Taxi Drivers' Federation - voted last Wednesday evening to target the Ryder Cup next month as part of their dispute over new fare structures due to be introduced on September 25th.
The new structure will see see minimum charges set at €3.80 or €4.10 at peak times instead of the current system where fares were set by local authorities. Luggage charges and the hiring charge for picking up passengers from Dublin airport will also be abolished.
Unions have claimed the changes will badly affect drivers' incomes.
The decision to target the Ryder Cup follows two one-day work stoppages in the last month in protest over the regulator's refusal to reconsider the new fare changes.
