Manchester United ended Arsenal's brief stint at the top of the Premiership with a 3-2 win over Everton at Old Trafford.
Nicky Butt opened the scoring before Gary Neville found his own net in the 13th minute to restore parity. Goals from Kleberson and David Bellion won it for United however despite a late Duncan Ferguson goal.
Pressure eased on Gerard Houllier thanks to a 3-1 win over form side Bolton. Sami Hyypia, Sinama-Pongolle and Vladimir Smicer scored for the Reds before Henrik Pedersen grabbed a consolation.
Birmingham City came from one down to beat Man City 2-1 with goals from Jeff Kenna and Mikael Forsell. Darren Ambrose saved a point for Newcastle at Leicester after Paul Dickov opened the scoring while two goals from Patrik Berger helped Portsmouth beat Tottenham in Fratton Park.
Blackburn and Middlesbrough shared four goals at the Riverside while Leeds United and Villa drew 0-0.
