Uranus used to be remarkable in that it apparently had no "irregular satellites", distant moons with unusual orbits. Recent observations, including work carried out this summer at the Canada-France-Hawaii telescope on Mauna Kea, Hawaii, have changed all that. The planet is now thought to have as many as five irregular satellites buzzing around it along with 16 circular orbit moons, making it the most populated planetary satellite system known.
