A US-based technology company is to create 100 new jobs with the establishment of its international headquarters and business services centre in Galway.
The €8 million investment by Genband will create more than 100 new jobs and is being supported by IDA Ireland. The new positions will be in finance, supply chain management, customer support, software development, HR, legal and administrative activities.
Genband specialises in the development of Internet Protocol (IP) infrastructure and service solutions.
Chief executive Charlie Vogt said the establishment of the operation in Ireland was a "critical component" of the company's global strategy and growth.
"Ireland's breadth of high-quality, skilled human resources made Galway an ideal setting for our expansion, particularly when combined with the region's competitive cost structure and leadership as a telecommunications corridor," he said.
The announcement was welcomed by Minister for Social Protection Eamon Ó Cuív.
"Genband's role in transforming telecommunications networks through IP perfectly aligns with Ireland's status as a smart economy," he said.
