An American e-commerce firm has announced the creation of 350 new jobs over the next five years in the Shannon Free Zone.
Digital River's Irish unit will oversee the company's non-US activity. This will include client and corporate functions, sales and client services.
The company claims to manage the online businesses for more than 40,000 firms. The firm has a workforce of 1,000 worldwide and last year reported net sales of $220 million.
Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment Micheál Martin Martin
Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment Micheál Martin Martin said the investment added to Ireland's emerging profile as a leading e-commerce business centre in Europe.
"This investment is very welcome news for Shannon and was secured by Shannon Development against strong competition from other European locations." the Minister said.
"Digital River can be confident of finding highly skilled professionals and infrastructure of international standards in this part of the country.
"More and more companies are discovering the benefits of locating in regional centres throughout Ireland and Digital River is an example of the type of company we want to attract."
The company will be locating their new European Headquarters in Westpark-Shannon Business Park. The business campus is being developed next door to Shannon Airport. Founded in 1994, Digital River is headquartered in Minneapolis with offices across the US as well as Germany, England, Ireland, Luxembourg, Taiwan and Japan.
