The first meeting of the new US-Irish Interparliamentary Group will take place in Dublin next week. The setting up of the group was agreed between the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr Newt Gingrich, and the former Taoiseach, Mr John Bruton, earlier this year.
The US delegation of Republican and Democratic members of the House will be led by Congressman James Walsh. It will also visit Belfast, Edinburgh and London from November 16th to 23rd. In Dublin it will meet the President, Mrs McAleese, the Taoiseach, Mr Ahern, and the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr Andrews.
