The US military death toll in Iraq reached 500 today when three soldiers died in a bomb attack and the military announced another non-combat death.
Guerrillas killed three US soldiers and two Iraqi officials in the bomb attack north of Baghdad on Saturday. The US military also said a soldier died yesterday from a "non-hostile gunshot wound."
Official figures from the US military show that 346 troops have died in combat in the current campaign and another 154 personnel have died in non-combat incidents such as friendly fire, motor crashes and suicides.
Since President Bush called an end to the Iraq war on May 1st, 231 troops have died in combat and 131 have died in non-combat roles.
