Tourist numbers grew by 17 per cent in February to 403,700 on the back of growth in the numbers of North American visitors, according to figures released today.
The Central Statistics Office (CSO) published tourism and travel figures for the February today that show visitors from Britain grew by 14.9 per cent when compared with the same month the previous year.
But visitor numbers from the United States showed the strongest level of growth, up 25.2 per cent when compared with February 2003, and up over 40 per cent compared with February 2002.
The number of holidays abroad taken by Irish residents in February was 346,500 up 14.7 per cent on the same month last year.
