The United States has received indications more terror attacks are likely, a senior official said today.
The official, who requested anonymity, would not give further details, but the White House said in a statement that homeland security chief Tom Ridge was scheduled to speak to reporters later tonight.
US authorities already are on the highest state of alert in the wake of deadly suicide attacks September 11th and have warned several times since then that new attacks are likely.
Meanwhile authorities continue to probe how the terrorists who hijacked the four airliners had escaped detection as they prepared for their attacks while living in the United States.
