Washington - US intelligence agencies are working with counterparts worldwide to thwart feared guerrilla strikes during the holiday season, the US Defence Secretary, Mr William Cohen, said yesterday.
Mr Cohen cited what he called a threat from unnamed groups "that seem to be determined to ruin the holiday if they can and to kill Americans and others if they can." Security has been tightened at US airports and land border crossings from Canada and Mexico. The State Department reemphasised that Americans abroad may be targeted.
