The radio revenues of UTV surpassed television for the first time in 2006, the company announced today.

The statement stated that radio revenues represented 54 per cent of the total revenues of the group in 2006.

UTV chairman John McGuckian said that radio was now a significant aspect of the company's business in the United Kingdom and Ireland, and that it would continue to be a main focus of their business strategy.

Operating profits for the company were £24.8 million (€36.59 million) with increased profits from radio operations being offset by reduced revenue in the company's television division and start-up losses at its new radio stations in Edinburgh and Belfast.
