Ulster Television Plc said it is now buying 60 per cent of radio broadcaster County Media Ltd for £17.1 million having earlier been blocked from buying it outright.
UTV had been blocked by the Irish Radio and Television Commission (IRTC) from paying £31.5 million for 100 per cent of the Cork-based broadcaster in January.
But the IRTC yesterday approved in principle a revised bid by UTV for a majority holding.
UTV is clarifying a number of matters with the IRTC and said a further announcement would be made as soon as practicable.
