The Ulster Unionist Party¿s chief whip at Stormont hit out today after his constituency party failed to back him to contest the next Assembly elections.
Mr Ivan Davis was deselected at a Lagan Valley meeting last night.
The party has decided to put up local MP Mr Jeffrey Donaldson, Assembly member Mr Billy Bell, Banbridge councillor Ms Norah Beare and Mr Jim Kirkpatrick.
Mr Davis, a strong supporter of party leader Mr David Trimble, claimed he was the victim of similar moves that led to him being deselected for last year's council elections.
Referring to last night's vote, the MLA claimed: "Before the meeting got under way I was given by certain parties the four names of those who would be selected".
Mr Davis indicated both Ms Beare and Mr Kirkpatrick would follow the lead of Mr Donaldson, the hardliner who has pressurised Mr Trimble into threatening to quit the Northern Ireland Executive if the IRA does not disband by January.
"I can't see it as a balanced team," he told BBC Radio Ulster. ] He added: "I hold those who were there last night in high respect. But I think it was definitely a continuation from last year".
