Wimbledon and US Open champion Venus Williams said today she would play on in the Australian Open after treatment for a worrying knee injury.
The world No 2 played with a patch on her knee when she beat Kristina Brandi of the United States 6-3, 6-4 to reach the third round on Wednesday night.
Williams received an hour's treatment today for a recurrence of tendinitis of her left knee.
She said in a statement released by the WTA Tour that she was much better and was ready to play against Daniela Hantuchova of the Slovak Republic in a third round match on Friday.
