Gianluca Vialli has asked for more time to decide whether to become manager of English First Division club Watford, the London Evening Standardreported tonight.

Vialli held informal talks with Watford before flying off to holiday in the Seychelles last week. He has promised to answer Watford by Friday May 4th, the paper said.

Vialli was sacked as Chelsea coach just a few games into this season and has been out of football ever since.

The Watford vacancy has arisen because long-serving manager and former England boss Graham Taylor is retiring at the end of the season.

A job at Watford, just north of London, could suit Vialli, who is reported to be keen to stay in or close to London.

Ray Wilkins, the former England international who was Vialli's assistant at Chelsea, and fitness coach Antonio Pintus could become part of Vialli's backroom staff should he accept the Vicarage Road job.
