Ms Margaret Murphy, the 74-year-old woman who lost her life after a burglar entered her house at the weekend in Cork city, was buried yesterday. The woman is understood to have died from natural causes - a heart attack brought on by stress - after the intruder entered her home at Barratt's Buildings, Gurranabraher, on the north side of the city.
Ms Murphy ran a newspaper business from her home and was popular with her neighbours. At about 10 p.m. last Saturday a boy noticed that her front door was ajar and raised the alarm. Within 20 minutes, gardai were at the scene but the woman was already dead. Her arms and legs had been tied and preliminary postmortem results suggested she had suffered coronary failure brought about by stress.
