A student from Coleraine, Co Derry, appeared in court yesterday charged with murdering his sister. Mr Bryan Boothby (17) is charged with the murder of Tara Boothby (18), whose badly beaten body was found in their Fortsandel Avenue home in Coleraine on May 19th. Det Insp William Hutchinson told Resident Magistrate Mr Richard Wilson that when he was charged with the offence the defendant replied "No".
The parents of the defendant and the victim, Mr Martin and Mrs Stephanie Boothby, were in court for the short hearing. The defendant was remanded in custody to appear before Coleraine Magistrates Court on June 18th.
