The public has been requested to avoid visiting St Vincent's Hospital in Dublin due to an outbreak of the winter vomiting bug.

More than 50 patients at St Vincent's Hospital in Dublin are currently affected from what appears to be infection from SRSV, commonly known as the 'winter vomiting virus'.

A statement from the hospital said ten are currently affected by the virus. As a result of the outbreak admissions and bed allocation have been affected.

Patients presenting with minor problems can expect delays and should contact their GP instead, the statement said.
