The new president of the Association of Secondary Teachers, Ireland (ASTI), Mr Don McCluskey, has warned of further industrial action in schools during the coming school year unless the Government reaches agreement on teachers' pay.
Mr McCluskey, who took up his new post officially on Wednesday, said if the Government could not reach pay terms with all the teachers' unions, the State could expect more industrial action.
The ASTI's 30 per cent pay increase claim is due to be considered by the Civil Service arbitrator later this month.
