There has been a warning about dangers to animal health after a mass grave of pigs was discovered in Co Tyrone. The find was made less than a week after a similar dump, containing hundreds of dead sheep and pigs, was found a few miles away at Caledon. An environmental health official warned that a major animal health crisis could result.
Mr Alan Burke, Dungannon District Council's Director of Environmental Health, warned that animals scavenging off the rotting carcases could contract disease. "This is a quite appalling incident and I'm worried that it may pose a serious health risk to humans."
