Many households around the country have been left without a water supply for another day after thawing snow and ice caused leaks in all areas.
Dublin City Council has warned that a number of areas will experience "severe water restrictions" from 7pm tonight until 7pm tomorrow morning.
They are: Walkinstown, Errigal Road, Balfe Road, Crumlin Road, Clogher Road, the area around Clonmacnoise , Slievebloom Park, Slievenamon, Dolphin’s Barn East, Poddle Park, Donore Avenue, Clanbrassil Street Lower, Clanwilliam Place, Brunswick Street, Green/Church Street, Irishtown, Pembroke/Merrion/Anglesea/Mespil roads, Bath Avenue and Merrion Road South.
The north east of the city will still experience loss of water or poor pressure. Pockets of Finglas will remain without water for the rest of the day, the council said.
The council has warned it could take as long as three to four months for the city’s water supply to return to its normal level, and there are similar problems in Cork, Kilkenny, Limerick, Clare and Waterford.
Fingal council said although water levels in reservoirs are improving, many areas are still without water. Areas affected include Lanesborough, Balrothery, Garristown, Naul, Skerries and parts of Howth.
Water supply may not return for a number of days, the council said.
South Dublin county council said water supplies are being restored to all areas from 6am today but that it may take some time for it to make its way through the network. The council says water levels in the reservoirs are still at a critical point.
Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council said it had to turn off the water supply to Sallynoggin, Mounttown, Dalkey, and Killiney because of critically low water levels at the Church Road supply reservoir. Other areas are operating on reduced water pressure.
Cork City Council said water is being restored to all areas, although some night-time supply restrictions will be in operation in parts to help safeguard supply.
Cork County Council said water is being rationed in many areas to ensure supply to others. Areas affected include Bantry, Skibbereen, Baltimore, Dunmanway, Mallow and Millstreet. Water supplies to most other areas in west Cork are still under severe pressure, with some areas without water.
In Kilkenny water will be turned off in Slieverue Village and Kilmurry until 5pm.
In Co Clare water will be turned off in the Shannon and Ennis areas.
Limerick City Council also advises consumers that some household will experience a full interruption to supply.
