Long gone are the days of Big Daddy, Giant Haystacks and Dickie Davies on a Saturday afternoon. Blame it on the Americans. They have, in their own particular way, brought the "sport" of wrestling from the back streets to the multi-million-dollar industry that it is today.
Hollywood "Hulk" Hogan, Sting, Lex Luger, The Giant, Ric Flair, The Outsiders, Steiner Brothers, Syxx and many more of the world's top exponents are here to do the dirty work on your behalf.
There are five different gameplay modes to choose from. Pit WCW against its arch-rival NWO or see how your own favourite wrestler fares against the world's best. Select single player, handicap, tag team or enter Battle Royal bust-ups in the four-player setting.
It doesn't end there either. You set the rules - Time limit, TKOs, Rope Break, Ring Out, Submissions and Pin. Each wrestler can perform between 30 and 40 moves including their own signature moves.
A fighter's strength is his spirit and WCW vs NWO brings this to the screen by way of a spirit meter. As you would expect when you are in high spirits, you can take on the world and your attacks will be more potent.
WCW vs NWO will undoubtedly appeal to wrestling fans and it would appeal to a much wider audience were it not for one particular flaw. This comes in the guise of speed, or the lack of it. The wrestlers, it seems, are in a constant state of slow motion and if there was a replay facility it would be nothing more than a still shot. If this doesn't pose a problem to you you're on a winner already.
