A festival for Irish expatriates opens today in Dubai.
The week-long Dubai Irish Festival aims to celebrate cultural links between Ireland and the affluent United Arab Emirates hub.
Renowned fiddle player Frankie Gavin, Belfast singer Duke Special and former Kilkenny hurler DJ Carey are among the attractions.
Tourism Ireland is also involved in the event to showcase Ireland as a tourist destination place for business.
"The Dubai Irish Festival hopes to become an annual, unique Irish cultural festival which celebrates the cultural links between Ireland and Dubai and also celebrates Irish music and dance in Dubai," said a spokesperson for organisers, Empire Entertainments.
Local golf or horseracing events are being staged in tandem with the festival.
