In Tralee, the action begins each day with a farmers’ market opening at 8am. A range of activities including fashion shows, an air display, fireworks, parades and music continue into the small hours. For details log on to roseoftralee.ie.

Speaking of roses – why not grip one between your teeth at the Dublin International Argentine Tango Festival?

Run in conjunction with the city’s Latin American festival, the event includes highlights such as the Tango Cafe at the Stag’s Head this afternoon, and dancing to the music of Argentine composer Astor Piazzolla in the National Concert Hall on Sunday.

Passions of a different kind will be stirred at Lansdowne Road this evening when Ireland take on France in the second game of a two-match series at 5pm.

Last weekend's 19-12 loss in Bordeaux means it's advantage les bleusheading into this game but Declan Kidney will be hoping the momentum from the positive second-half display in that match continues and the team's World Cup preparations get back on track.

Meanwhile, a gang of self-confessed liars and myth-makers will assemble for an evening of storytelling in Cavan’s town hall at 8pm tomorrow night as part of the county’s ongoing fleadh festival.

Among the well-known raconteurs attending the event will be Pat Speight, Audrey Dunphy and KJ Sweeney.

The fleadh ends on Monday but there is still plenty more ceoil agus caint to catch before then.
