This August Bank Holiday weekend sees a plethora of events taking place north and south of the Border, with sporting fixtures dominating the weekend's activities.

Looking at Leinster first, the World Fleadh, a traditional and celtic music festival, takes place in Portlaoise.

Tomorrow's highlights include Jack L in the festival club and Frankie Gavin in the festival dome with special guests Moya Brennan, Brian Kennedy and Anthony Kearns.

The Focus Ireland triathlon takes place around the Docklands and Grand Canal Dock in Dublin tomorrow.

A Spraoi Festival, barbecue festival and two sailing regattas form the weekend’s events in Munster.

The Spraoi Festival takes place in Waterford from today until Tuesday 5th. Sólo Flamenco will perform on Arundel Square tomorrow, while replica steam ship The Iron Tidewill sail on her maiden voyage along the quays at 9.30pm bound for Rice Bridge.

In Cork, Calves Week (named as a tongue-in-cheek reference to the famous yachting event Cowes Week) is an event not to be missed for lovers of sailing. The event sees the Schull to Baltimore race take place tomorrow and the Baltimore Regatta on Monday.

The Ahakista Regatta also takes place this weekend in Co Cork, with sailing events, swimming competitions and raft races on the waters of Bantry Bay. The bay will feature a Barbecue Festival as well, with music, food and entertainment all weekend.

Moving west, the Galway Race Summer Festival continues at Ballybrit. Mad Hatter Day will take place tomorrow at the festival, with adults and children invited to come in their most creative and outrageous hats.

In Roscommon, the O Carolan Harp Festival will be running until August 4th. Highlights include Dervish in concert tomorrow, and Harp displays and competitions on Monday.

Moville festival is on in Donegal with live music, a regatta cruiser race today and Caribbean barbeque njight tonight, and a raft race tomorrow.

Féile an Phobail takes place in West Belfast featuring music from the Fun Lovin` Criminals, The Complete Stone Roses and These Charming Men, comedy from Ardal O'Hanlon and Joe Rooney, political walking tours, taxi trax tours, and the Bobby Sands Memorial cup soccer competition.

It will be a major sporting weekend in Dublin with the focus on the final round of the All-Ireland qualifying series at Croke Park. Wexford meet Down in tomorrow's opening match before Mayo and Tyrone take centre-stage tomorrow at headquarters.

On Sunday, beaten Ulster finalists Fermanagh will attempt to bounce back against Kieran McGeeney's Kildare with the meeting of defending champions Kerry and Monaghan to follow as all eight sides bid for an All-Ireland quarter-final berth.

Elsewhere, Wicklow will play Antrim in the Tommy Murphy Cup final at noon today, again at Croke Park, while Louth and Sligo will contest the Nicky Rackard Cup decider prior to tomorrow's qualifiers.

With more than 350,000 passengers expected to travel through Dublin airport over the course of the weekend, passengers are advised to arrive at check-in desks at least 90 minutes before flight departure.

AA Roadwatch advises motorists that the N11 in Dublin will be very busy on Saturday taking both Wexford and Wicklow GAA football supporters to Croke Park.

There may be disruption at the N7 Interchange on the M50 from tonight due to Luas works being done as of the M50 upgrade. From 10pm tonight until 7pm on Saturday, the N7 inbound between Monastery Lane junction, and the M50 overbridge will be reduced to one lane.

These closures will be repeated from 7am until 7pm on Monday 4th August 2008.

The N7 outbound will be cut to 2 lanes between the Longmile Road junction and the Red Cow Hotel from 6am until 2pm on Saturday, August 2nd, 2008.
