Dublin

Dublin

Work is to continue until the end of the month on Taney Road and Upper Churchtown Road with serious disruption expected. This route should be avoided if possible. There will be roadworks nearby between the Goat Grill in Goatstown and Main Street, Dundrum, with further delays expected at Mount Anville.

Until mid-November, between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m., there will be roadworks on the Bray Road outbound at the Belfield flyover. Resurfacing work will continue on the Stillorgan Road at The Rise, Mount Merrion, and on the Booterstown side.

Strand Road and Beach Road in Sandymount will be closed to inbound traffic between 9.30 a.m. and 7.30 p.m. daily. Diversions will be operating.

The outbound bus lane from Fairview Strand to Malahide Road is now open to all traffic because of disruptive work in the area. The bus lane is open only when exiting the city centre.

Limerick

There are roadworks on the N7 Dublin-Limerick road from Sallymount to Daly's Cross, with single-lane traffic. A diversion is in place at Hassetts Cross with poor surface conditions.

Cork

Resurfacing work has started between Blarney and Tower (R617), with long delays expected.

In Cork city, resurfacing is also taking place on Bishopstown Road, while there will be a new traffic arrangement on the road between Wilton roundabout and the end of the dual carriageway until Wednesday, October 28th. It will be closed to outbound traffic from Wilton roundabout. Access will be via Sarsfield Road and South Ring Road. Emergency access to University Hospital will be maintained.

Waterford

Roadworks on the main Dungarvan-Waterford road at Pike Hill, five miles east of Dungarvan, will continue for three weeks.

Meath

For the next two months, there will be extensive roadworks on the N3 one mile south of Dunshaughlin on the main road to Navan near the County Club. Delays will be severe.

Louth

For the next two weeks roadworks on the N2 north of Ardee will cause long delays.

Rail

A major refurbishment of Connolly Station, Dublin, is under way until mid-1999.

Ferries

Due to adverse conditions, Swansea Cork Ferries has been forced to cancel today's 8.30 a.m. sailing from Cork and tonight's sailing from Swansea. The next sailing will be 9.00 p.m. from Cork tomorrow, weather permitting. Intending passengers should phone 021 27 1166 for information.

Road Deaths

The provisional figure for the number of people who died on the roads in the seven days up to midnight on Wednesday is 11. This brings the total for the year to date to 353. So far this month, 20 people have died. A total of 51 died during October 1997.
