The Department of Agriculture recommends to motorists that journeys to Northern Ireland and/or Britain be postponed unless absolutely necessary due to foot-and-mouth precautions. Motorists should also avoid travelling to farms or large sporting gatherings.
AA Roadwatch warns motorists to expect long delays over the weekend especially at traditionally busy points such as the N4 at Enfield, the N11 at Kilmacanogue and southbound on the N7 from Rathcoole. Delays should also be expected at Border crossings.
Dublin
The Firhouse Road junction at the M50 will be closed until March 26th, when the new bridge will open. Grand Canal Quay will be closed until March 29th for roadworks. Luas roadworks and diversions are in place on Wolfe Tone Quay around Heuston Bridge until the end of March.
Traffic disruption is expected at Nutgrove Avenue, Rathfarnham, due to ongoing QBC works. Work on the Swords, Finglas and Ballymun QBC is also continuing.
Wicklow
Major roadworks and temporary lights are in place south of Blessington on the N81.
Cork
Expect delays on Commons Road between Summer Hill South and Windmill Road until March 23rd. Merchants Quay will be reduced to two lanes until April. Roadworks continue on the Lower Glanmire Road.
Kerry
Roadworks are ongoing on the N21 Tralee-Limerick road between Tralee and Castle island.
Galway
Traffic disruption will take place on the Upper Salthill road as part of the Knocknacarragh main drainage works. From March 19th, a second operation will commence on the Seapoint promenade.
Donegal
Major roadworks continue on the Clare-Barnes road between Donegal town and Ballybofey.
Dublin Airport
Passengers should allow sufficient time to reach the airport this weekend in order to comply with check-in regulations.
Bus Travel
St Patrick's Day Bus Eireann services will generally operate according to normal Sunday timetables. On the Dublin/Belfast route, services will operate as on weekdays and there will be alterations to a small number of other services. On Sunday normal services will operate, but a small number of evening services will be cancelled.
Services on Monday will operate as on weekdays with some cancellations and alterations.
DART services will operate to a Sunday schedule from Saturday until Monday. Suburban services to and from Kildare, Arklow and Maynooth will not operate. The Dublin to Belfast Enterprise will operate to a normal timetable on Saturday and Monday.
