London - Mass killer Rosemary West has been officially told that she will spend the rest of her life behind bars. The British Home Secretary, Mr Jack Straw, has decided that West (43), who killed 10 young women and children, should never be freed.
A Home Office spokeswoman said: "A whole life tariff has been set in her case in line with the recommendations of the trial judge and the Lord Chief Justice."
West, a mother of eight, whose husband, Fred, was found hanged in his cell awaiting trial on 12 murder charges, was given 10 life sentences at Winchester Crown Court in November 1995. - (PA)
