Lee Westwood begins his 2002 season at the Johnnie Walker Classic on Thursday confident his slump in form will soon be over.
Westwood did not win a single title last season and dropped from first to 52nd on the European Order of Merit and from fifth to 30th on the world rankings.
But before he has even teed off in the £900,000 sterling Johnnie Walker Classic in Perth, Australia, the difference is already noticeable - purely by his presence at the Lake Karrinyup golf course at all.
Last year Westwood did not hit a competitive shot until the Dubai Desert Classic at the start of March - and then a month later had more time off to be at home for the birth of son Samuel.
"I had a good rest over Christmas, but I kept playing," said the Westwood. "I seem to have found a bit of form in the last two weeks and my game has felt sharp in practice.
"It's just a matter of getting going, trying to get in contention and get a few of the old feelings going again".
Westwood has been working with Sam Torrance's dad, Bob, who also coaches Padraig Harrington. "I've seen Bob a couple of times and did a bit on the range with my dad for three or four days last week, working on my weight transference, set-up and alignment and things like that".
