Bonn - A government investigation into a train accident that killed 100 people in Eschede earlier this month yesterday confirmed that a faulty wheel was the cause.
Mr Hans-Heinrich Grauf presented the Federal Railroad Office's report to the parliament's traffic committee on the accident of the inter-city express on June 3rd. The wheel broke due to an inner crack 6 km from the site of the accident, he said. The train separated almost instantly before hurtling into a freeway flyover.
