A Co Wicklow man who ran a children's fun park has been sentenced to six months in jail for downloading and viewing 1,200 child pornography images.

Peter Morphew (63), of Clara Vale, Rathdrum, Co Wicklow, admitted using his credit card to pay for the images over a two year period between February 2000 and April 2002. He told Wicklow Circuit Court today he was sorry and appalled for what he had done.
Morphew's home was raided in May 2002 as part of the Garda's "Operation Amethyst" crackdown on Internet child pornography. Morphew also admitted the possession of a shotgun and two rounds of ammunition at his home on the same date.
