A British woman was found guilty today of trying to murder her husband by lacing his curry with anti-freeze in an attempt to cash in on his life insurance.
Lee Knight (37) was left blind, deaf and brain-damaged after emerging from a 16-week coma.
Kate Knight (28), of Stoke-on-Trent, was convicted of poisoning her husband because she wanted to claim his £130,000 life insurance policy to pay off her debts.
She had denied lacing his red wine and curry with anti-freeze in 2005 on their seventh wedding anniversary.
A jury at Stafford Crown Court took almost nine hours to find her guilty of attempted murder. She will be sentenced on a later date.
Knight had researched the toxic effects of the antifreeze and had hoped to cause Mr Knight to have kidney failure and a heart attack, which would have killed him.
Police said she had accumulated debts without her husband's knowledge.
